    • EU Supports ICEED  to train  Female Solar Technicians in  Borno State

      The International Center for Energy, Environment and Development with funding from the European Commission has commenced the  training of 24 youths out of the targeted 140 on solar installation, maintenance and marketing. This is part of  the  MAIDA  project, designed  to strengthen resilience in six LGAs affected by the insurgency in Borno State. The exercise  which is being conducted at the State Vocational Training Center Maiduguri, commenced with trainees from Jere Local Government of Borno State.

      Solar energy has been, and continues to be, a male-dominated field, however, the trend  will soon change  in Borno State.  Out of the initial 24 trainees, 5 are  determined women, who have committed to solar technology business.  This training  teaches participants what  the solar energy field has to offer them, with information and advice on career options, industry trends and much more.
