    • EU Visits Maida Stove Entrepreneurs


      The European Commission,  funders of the Maida  project (EU Support to Response to Response, Recovery and Resilience in Borno State), visited  stove entrepreneurs  trained by the project in Zabamarri and Gongulong, Jere

      The European Commission,  funders of the Maida project (EU Support to Response to Response, Recovery, and Resilience in Borno State), visited stove entrepreneurs trained by the project in Zabamarri and Gongulong, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State. ICEED had trained 39 (24 in Gonguong and 15 in Zabamarri) entrepreneurs in the Local government in stove production, stove business development, formed them into cooperatives and facilitated their registration with the State government as cooperative associations.

      The EU representative, Mr. Temitayo Omole,  interacted with the stove entrepreneurs on current challenges they face in the stove business, and possible suggestions for innovations to boost their trade. While Zabamarri stove entrepreneurs have positioned to tap into the budding stove market in the North East, the Gongulong stove entrepreneurs revealed to the EU representative that they have received Five Million Naira (N5,000.000) cash inflow from stove production, since after the training. They informed him that the income has improved their livelihood in ways such as sending their children to school,  providing adequate meals for the family, and cushioning the emotional effect of lack. The EU representative expressed satisfaction on the impact so far, and urged them to get more committed.
