As part of our contribution to clean energy development and expansion in Nigeria, ICEED established the clean energy centre in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The Centre was officially opened in 2012 and provides the following services:
Research and development;
Quality assurance and standards for solar PV and cooking energy technologies;
Solar PV and cooking energy education; and
Demonstration of clean energy technologies;
The laboratory undertakes the following services:
Testing and analysis related to stove technical quality, indoor air pollution, and energy efficiency;
Assist stove developers in improving stove design and construction methods;

The workshop has 2 sections - a metal works section and a ceramics section. The workshop performs the following functions:
Design and construction of efficient household and institutional woodstoves;
Capacity building for SMEs on stove design, construction and maintenance; and
Assists stove developers in design and production of stoves.
This centre conducts technology, materials and methods development for solar PV installation.
It also conducts capacity development on solar PV design, installation, operation and maintenance. It is equipped with a standard 5KVA solar PV system for training purposes, testing tools and equipment. Participants in these capacity development programmes are drawn from secondary and tertiary schools, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and solar PV businesses.
